Poll worker shortages cause voter suppression. Historically, older folks volunteered for this civic duty, but could not during a pandemic.

IDEA

Build on the momentum created by the Black Lives Matter movement and rally the younger folks to show up and volunteer to be a poll worker.

We wanted to hero the efforts of those working in communities to make a difference. To emphasize the spirit of taking destiny into your own hands with a sense of urgency, hopefulness and history. The visuals incorporate quick-cut, action-oriented imagery of people on-the-ground, juxtaposing past and present, building energy and reinforcing the ‘rally cry’ look and feel to galvanize our audience. It was incredibly important to center Black power and Black joy throughout the piece.

10 days from briefing to delivery. 2 anthemic spots entitled “We Got Next” for LeBron James’ More Than A Vote initiative. 20,000+ poll workers signed up after broadcasting during the Western Conference and NBA Finals. 1,000,000+ views to date on YouTube. 1 memorable retweet by the former President Barack Obama. 

 

The effort was covered by Ad Age, The New York Times and Fast Company among others.
